North Country typically conducts 5-7 mobile food distributions each month in different communities across the region.  During each of these mobile distributions, long lines tend to form with people who are struggling to put food on the table.  Everyone at these distributions needs help or is trying to help someone else. They all have compelling stories that touch the hearts of all those involved.

During Summer 2025, we also deployed two emergency mobile food drops to the Bemidji community after the June 21st derecho storms.

You have no idea how much I needed this!

While waiting in line, Janet, a senior neighbor who attended a recent mobile food distribution visited with one of the volunteers.  She said she was in line to get some additional food, because she the little food she is able to get on her own doesn’t go very far.  Janet lives day to day on a very limited social security income.  She said, “You have no idea how much I needed this.  With the way everything is in the world right now, it’s really hard.  I eat a lot of noodles.  The produce and meat I get from here is a God send.  The food really helps me out, and gives me a little bit more money to use for other bills.”

This really helps me make ends meet!

As food was placed in his car, John, another senior neighbor, told the workers that showing up to the mobile food distribution helps him supplement the food he gets from the local food shelf.  He said, “This really helps me make ends meet.  It helps me save money for other necessities, and I really appreciate the fresh fruits and vegetables.  They are so expensive at the store, and the food shelf doesn’t always have them.”

This means so much to my family!

This is what a single mother of 3 young children near tears whispered to a worker while in line for a recent mobile food drop.  She explained that she worked two jobs, but the high cost of daycare, and the high cost of living made it a struggle to get by day to day.  She was so thankful and appreciative for the additional food, and tears were streaming down her face as the volunteers threw in a few extra bags of cereal for the kids.

Anyone is welcome at our mobile food drops if you ever need some extra food for your family. Please check our "Food Drops" calendar for upcoming mobile drops.
